Reaching Out, Making the Connection.

We know that reaching out for help can be the most difficult task of all. That's why we want to make sure that whatever your needs, you can make the connections with Cape Counseling. The Access Center is the overlapping central point of entry for services provided by Cape Counseling or other appropriate services provided in the Cape May area. One phone call is all it takes. The scope of services includes:
  • 24 hour hot line coverage
  • Clinical assessment, referral and linkage
  • Consultation, training and technical assistance to other clinical staff
  • Referral to appropriate outpatient programs, and community services.
  • Referral to inpatient care if necessary.
  • Telephone screening.

Children

Functional Family Therapy is a family focused, community based treatment for youth who are "at risk" for entering the juvenile justice system.  FFT is an evidence based program with a high success rate working with at-risk youth and their families.  FFT programs have been effective for over thirty years.  FFT providers engage each family with specific goals designed to develop and strengthen the unique characteristics of each family.

Family Preservation Services (FPS) is a community-based program that provides intensive in-home family education and crisis intervention to families with a child at risk of out-of-home placement. By combining many techniques found to be effective with families in crisis, FPS is responsive, intensive, accessible, focused on family strengths, goal oriented, family centered, practical, time limited and thorough. FPS workers teach families new skills, such as anger management, problem solving and parenting, to help them cope with the problems that let to the risk of placement. Because FPS therapists are available around the clock, they are able to work with families in their homes during actual crises.

Family Adolescent Alcohol Program. Cape Counseling would like you to know that they have an adolescent service that is here to help you. Through the Family Adolescent Alcohol Program, teens now have some options regarding treatment and help in dealing with their chemical use. Our staff serve adolescents aging from 13 to 18 years old. Our staff have been trained to deal with the unique needs of teens and their families when it comes to drug use.

Drug & Alcohol Family counseling for troubled teens. Many times, parents need help with understanding the things that their teenagers are facing, even without the involvement of chemicals. Our counselors have experience in dealing with difficult situations, clients with Attention Deficit Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder.

Children and Families, Learning Together — Outpatient Services. Cape Counseling is aware that families face risks to raising children that were unknown in years past. In addition, we also know that parenting is the toughest and most important job that doesn't come with a job description.

Our professionals are recognized for their ability to work creatively with the courts, Division of Youth & Family Services, schools and other organizations such as Cape Atlantic INK (Integrated Kids Network) in providing services for special needs children and their families.
